Pondicherry

Initially established as a trading post by the French East India Company in 1674, Pondicherry grew into a significant colonial settlement under French rule. The French established Pondicherry as their administrative and commercial centre in India, developing it into a bustling port city with European-style architecture, streets, and institutions. It served as a hub for trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange between France and India.
