The Treaty of Paris (1763), which ended the Seven Years war, resulted in France ceding several of its Indian territories to Britain, including most of its holdings in India. Although France retained Pondicherry and a few other enclaves, its influence in India was dissolved or significantly diminished. This loss of territory and influence marked a significant setback for French colonial ambitions in India.
