IFP - Institut français de Pondichéry
 

The French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP), UMIFRE 21 CNRS-MEAE, is a research institution under the joint supervision of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). It is the largest of the 26 research centres under these umbrellas. It is also part of the Research Unit USR 3330 “Savoirs et Mondes Indiens” of the CNRS, along with the Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH) in New Delhi.

  IGNCA - Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, established in memory of Smt. Indira Gandhi, is visualised as a centre encompassing the study and experience of all the arts – each form with its own integrity, yet within a dimension of mutual interdependence, interrelated with nature, social structure and cosmology.

 

 

 

BULAC - Bibliothèque universitaire des langues et civilisations
The University Library of Languages and Civilisation is supported by 9 partner establishments (member of the GIP BULAC): the universities Panthéon Sorbonne, Sorbonne Nouvelle, Sorbonne Université, Paris Diderot, the CNRS, EFEO, EHESS, EPHE and INALCO. Its collections were built up by gathering the holdings of about twenty Parision research libraries. The main mission of the BULAC is to unite documentary collections, mainly in vernacular languages, about the languages and civilisations (that is, social and human sciences as well as literature and the arts) of the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe, North African, the Near East, the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and Native American civilisations. BULAC holds almost 1.5 million references written in nearly 350 languages and almost all known scripts.

 

  BnF - Bibliothèque nationale de France
The Bibliothèque nationale de France, as it was named in 1994, is the heir to the royal collections built up since the end of the Middle Ages. The collections of the BnF are unique in the world: fifteen million books and journals, but also manuscripts, prints, photographs, maps and plans, sheet music, coins, medals, sound documents, videos, multimedia, sets, costumes... in constant growth. All intellectual, artistic and scientific disciplines are represented in an encyclopedic spirit. Its physical facilities are visited each year by more than one million people and its online resources receive more than 30 million visits. Its digital library, Gallica, allows free consultation of more than four million documents.
 

 

Collège de France
The Collège de France is a public institution of higher learning, unique in France and without equivalent abroad. Since the 16th century, the Collège de France has had a twofold vocation: to be both a place for the most daring research and a place for its teaching. Dedicated to fundamental research, the Collège de France has this singular characteristic: it teaches "knowledge in the making in all fields of literature, science and the arts", in partnership with the CNRS, INSERM and several other major institutions.
 

                    

 

EFEO - Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient
The French School of the Far East (EFEO), founded in 1900 in Saigon, has as its mission interdisciplinary research on Asian civilisations, from India to Japan. The EFEO is present, thanks to its 18 research centres, in 12 Asian countries. This specificity allows its 42 permanent researchers (anthropologists, archaeologists, linguists, historians, philologists, sociologists of religions, etc.) to be in the field of their studies and to lead a network of local cooperation and international exchanges between Orientalist scientists.
