Hermeneutics (Mīmāṃsā)
Mimamsa, also known as Purva Mimamsa or Karma-Mimamsa, is one of the six orthodox (astika) schools of Brahman philosophy. Founded by the sage Jaimini, the Mimamsa school is primarily concerned with the interpretation of the Vedas, and in particular its ritualistic parts, known as Karma-Kanda. It focuses on the correct performance of Vedic rituals (yajnas) and the effectiveness of Vedic injunctions (mantras). Mimamsa relies on a rigorous system of interpretation (hermeneutics) to analyze the meaning and application of Vedic texts, emphasizing linguistic analysis, logical reasoning and scriptural exegesis.
