Bernier, a French physician and traveler, arrived in India in 1656 and stayed for around twelve years, during which time he traveled extensively in the Mughal Empire, including Delhi, Agra, Lahore and Kashmir, and recorded his travels in  "Voyage dans les États du Grand Mogol", published in 1670.
